Ryder began his show career in October 2012 at five years of age and completed his title in about a month after winning the Open Dog Class at the National. The following day he was awarded his first SBIS by Mr. Ken Tippie and has since gone from strength to strength, winning a very strong Hound Group at the prestigious National Dog Show in Philadelphia, PA with multiple Best in Show Hounds represented and most recently going BEST OF BREED then going on to the only sighthound to make the cut in the GROUP at WESTMINSTER !!! He has had a meteoric career due in large part to his rock steady temperament, his outstanding conformation and soundness, and his talented handler/owner Mr. Philip Schafmayer. Of Ryder's first two Bests in Show, one was the prestigious Ladies Kennel Club of America in New York. He is currently the #1 Afghan Hound in the country with eleven Specialty Bests in Show and twelve all-breeds Bests in Show as of this update.
Ryder was co-bred with Perry Rooks.
